Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, eligible residential consumers can receive a Central Government subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for rooftop solar, plus an additional ₹20,000 subsidy from the Bihar Government, bringing the total subsidy to ₹98,000. The scheme is currently applicable until 31 March 2027. So, hurry up and take advantage of the available subsidy!
It is Bihar's state top-up on rooftop solar, approved by the state Cabinet on 12 August 2026 and launched in September 2026. It works together with PM Surya Ghar. You apply once on the PM Surya Ghar portal and do not need a separate scheme form.
Yes. The subsidy is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into your bank account after your system is installed, inspected and commissioned by the electricity company. Never pay anyone to "release" a subsidy. Sanction and payment are done only through the government portal.
Bihar gives every household its first 125 units free each month. Solar helps most if your home uses more than that: every unit above 125 is billed, and a rooftop system cuts that bill.
